How do I know if I'm eligible for a scholarship?

Applicants must be Woodbury, CT residents* planning to attend or currently attending an accredited, post secondary school. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of scholarship, motivation, and financial need. Most awards are a combination of these elements in varying proportions.  Additionally, there are scholarships available through named endowments and grants that may have additional criteria (see Scholarship List). Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors as well as students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year of post-secondary school.

* Region 14 students who are residents of Bethlehem, CT may be eligible for some scholarships managed by Woodbury Scholarship Fund Dollars for Scholars®. See the Nonnewaug High School Guidance website for details

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Students must complete and submit applications online in the form of a "Student Profile".  Student Profile access is through the "Students & Parents" tab on our website home page. Training documents are available to assist in entering the required information.  Submissions may be made beginning January 1st and ending April 1st of each year for awards made in June.

Students may initiate their Student Profile at any time (as early as middle school) in preparation for first-time applications and the Student Profile can be updated as needed until the end of eligibility.

How are award recipients determined?

A selection committee comprised of chapter Directors and other community volunteers reviews the Student Profiles.  Applicants are evaluated anonymously based on the content of their Student Profile.

Do I need to have provide information from my FAFSA submission?

Yes.  All applicants must provide need-based information from their current year FAFSA report.

Will my application be kept confidential?

Yes. Only selection committee members and those directly related to awards disbursement see Student Profile information.
